Shaws Lake
Shaw's Lake Blackwood.built by the Shaw brothers, sons of Richard Shaw to hold water for their gold mining and sluicing operations by means of water races which wound around the hills for many miles. They built the lake with picks, shovels and wheelbarrows, and is about an acre in size.
Bring a picnic basket and set up in the quaint surrounds of Shaws Lake. Surrounded by blackwood trees, make a day of it and bring the family and your dog. Stroll out to the famous Blackwood Mineral Springs via the direct track from Shaws lake and explore the historic township and its rich goldmining history.
