About Blackwood

Blackwood is a small township located on the Lerderderg River, roughly 89 kilometres north-west of Melbourne, nestled within the Wombat State Forest in the Shire of Moorabool.

Originally established during the gold rush era of the 1850s, Blackwood has a rich history and a strong sense of community. The town is surrounded by stunning bushland, making it a popular destination for bushwalking, camping and exploring the Lerderderg Gorge.

Despite its small size, Blackwood has an active community with local groups, events and businesses that keep the township vibrant year-round.
